How big of a time commitment is this play?
It depends largely on what part you receive. Leading roles are likely to be called multiple times per week from 4-6PM, whereas ensemble roles will be called approximately once every week. Dancers are called Mondays and Thursdays from 3-5PM. Calls for rehearsals will be given out a week in advance, however if a student has a conflict stated before rehearsal, they are allowed to miss the practice for the day.
How Do I KNow if i am called for rehearsal?
Under the "Calendar" page on this website, there is the google calendar. If you add this to your google calendar, it's super easy to check when rehearsals are! You will need to consult your script, or a cast list to know which groups you are in. For example, if you are in dance company D, you're called anytime the calendar lists "Company D", "DSL" etc. If you are one of the girls, you may be called to "girl" rehearsals, "full company" rehearsals, "londoners" rehearsals, etc. If you're confused about what role you have been cast in, please consult the acting page, or the link to the different dance companies below!
When do i need to have my lines memorized?
March 6th is our off-book date. An Off-book date is the day where you can no longer have your script in your hand to read lines and blocking during rehearsal. So that would be your "off-book date". However, for a period after that date, you will be able to call "line" if you don't remember your lines, and the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) on-book (following on a script) will read them to you until you can pick up your line and continue. Blocking notes will also be available through the Stage Manager (SM). Later on in rehearsals, there will be a "Last Day to Call Line", and after that, you'll need to have all lines and blocking memorized without help from the production staff.
What is "tech week"?
Tech week is the week of leading up to opening night, where rehearsals run from 5PM-10PM. Dinner is provided by parent volunteers, and there will be time to do homework, both before rehearsal, as well as when characters are not on stage. Students cannot miss these rehearsals, as it is imperative to other actors, directing and tech to have the entire company present.
Who do i contact if i have questions?
Great question! All contact information is available either on the "Contact Us" page, or the "Tech" page. Where your question should be directed to depends on what the questions pertains to. When in doubt, contact Anjali Jain (Student Production Manager) and she'll direct your questions where they need to go. There is a great infographic on who to contact when, which is available on the google presentation from the design meeting, linked at the bottom of the "home" page. For Actors specifically, there is an infographic listed on the acting page.
